Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd signed a multiyear extension with the club, ESPN reported Tuesday.
Terms weren't immediately divulged. Kidd made $8.5 million last season.
Kidd is starting his fifth season with the Mavericks. He guided the club to the 2024 NBA Finals before losing to the Boston Celtics and then navigated the team through a tenuous period last season after the controversial in-season trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The New York Knicks were interested in interviewing Kidd for their post following last season but Dallas declined to make him available.
Kidd, 52, is 179-149 during his tenure in Dallas. He is 22-18 in two trips to the postseason with the Mavericks.
A Hall of Fame player, Kidd has a 362-339 record in nine seasons as an NBA head coach. He guided the Brooklyn Nets to a 44-38 record in the 2013-14 season before jumping to the Milwaukee Bucks and going 139-152 in 3 1/2 season before being dismissed.
The Mavericks will be without star Kyrie Irving (ACL) for most of this season but will have No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg on the floor along with Anthony Davis, who was acquired in the Doncic deal. Dallas went 39-43 last season.
Kidd played 19 seasons (1994-2013) and still ranks third all-time in both career assists (12,091) and steals (2,684). He was a 10-time All-Star.
