Steve Prohm is stepping down as the head coach of the Murray State men's basketball team, ESPN reported.

Prohm, 50, was in his second stint with the Racers, taking over the Missouri Valley Conference program before the 2022-23 season. In that span, Murray State was 45-52, including a 16-17 record this season after a 70-62 setback to Bradley in the quarterfinal of the conference tournament on Friday.

The Racers had a 104-29 record during Prohm's first tenure as their head coach. That run from 2011-15 saw the team capture the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title in all four seasons and reach the NCAA Tournament in 2012.

Prohm left Murray State to become the head coach at Iowa State from 2015-21, leading the school to the NCAA Tournament on three occasions before the two sides parted ways after a 2-22 season.
