Downing-Imagn Images Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson will be sidelined for four to six weeks with a right knee injury, ESPN reported on Thursday.
In addition to a bone bruise that was previously reported, Johnson also hyperextended the knee during Tuesday night's loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
An MRI exam revealed no major structural damage after Johnson went down with 9:18 remaining in the Nuggets' 131-130 loss. He limped to the bench but did not return to the game.
Denver is already without two other starters: guard Christian Braun (ankle) and forward Aaron Gordon (hamstring).
Johnson, 29, averages 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists through 28 games (all starts) this season, his first in Denver.
The Nuggets acquired Johnson in an offseason trade with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. and a future first-round pick.
He owns career averages of 12.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 368 games (209 starts) with the Phoenix Suns, Nets and Nuggets. The 2019 first-round pick is a lifetime 39.4% shooter from 3-point range.
