Report: Patriots waiving WR Tyquan Thornton

The New England Patriots are releasing wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, ESPN reported Saturday.

The Patriots have a surplus of receivers and made the decision to part ways with Thornton, who has just four catches for 47 yards in six games (one start) this season. He has been inactive in four of the past five games for New England.

Thornton, 24, recorded a 4.28 time in the 40-yard dash at the combine prior to being selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Baylor.

He has 39 catches for 385 yards and two touchdowns in 28 career games (13 starts).
