Report: Three Clemson Players Suspended From Orange Bowl For Failing Drug Tests
According to a report from Price Atkinson of ESPN Greenville and later confirmed by others, Clemson’s Deon Cain, Ammon Lakip, and Jay Jay McCullough are going to be suspended from the team’s College Football Playoff/Orange Bowl matchup with Oklahoma on Thursday for a violation of team rules. The Clemson Insider reports that the three players failed drug tests:
All three were sent home for failed drug tests.
All three players attended the Orange Bowl media day event at Sun Life Stadium on Tuesday morning. However, they were sent home later that afternoon, before the Tigers’ practice at Nova Southeastern University.
None of the three suspended players are stars, but they are contributors to the only undefeated team in the nation, especially Cain. He has five touchdown catches and is third on the team with 34 catches and second with 582 yards, while Lakip is a backup kicker who’s made some PATs this season, and McCullough has yet to register a catch this year while playing as a tight end.
