Garoppolo, 34, is a free agent this offseason after serving as the Los Angeles Rams' backup quarterback the last two seasons. He's played in 12 NFL seasons since he was drafted in the second round (62nd overall) by the New England Patriots in 2014 out of Eastern Illinois.
Rams coach Sean McVay expressed public interest in potentially bringing back Garoppolo as Matthew Stafford's backup during this month's NFL meetings in Phoenix.
Of Garoppolo's 85 games played and 64 starts, 57 and 55 of those came with the San Francisco 49ers, who acquired him via trade in October of 2017.
He started all 16 regular-season games of San Francisco's 2019 season, throwing for 3,978 yards and 27 touchdowns while leading the 49ers to a 13-3 record and a 31-20 Super Bowl LIV loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February of 2020.
Over his 12 seasons, Garoppolo has completed 67.4% of his passes for 15,828 yards, 96 touchdowns and 52 interceptions for the Patriots (2014-17), 49ers (2017-22), Raiders (2023) and Rams (2024-25).
