Reports: Alabama WR Ryan Williams expected to sit out vs. ULM
Aug. 4, 2025; Tuscaloosa, AL, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide players and coaches participate in a media day with reporters and fans at the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility. Wide Receiver Ryan Williams speaks to members of the media. Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams is not expected to play Saturday against Louisiana Monroe, according to multiple reports.
The sophomore standout continues to recover from a concussion sustained in the Crimson Tide's season-opening loss to Florida State.
Williams, who led Alabama in receiving yards and touchdowns last season, was injured late in the 31-17 defeat when he dropped a pass and was hit by two Seminoles defenders. He left the field with assistance but was able to walk to the locker room under his own power.
Coach Kalen DeBoer said this week that Williams has returned to practice and is "coming along nicely," though he remains in the concussion protocol. Williams finished with five catches for 30 yards against Florida State but dropped three passes in a shaky outing.
Williams was projected as one of the nation's top receivers entering 2025. He caught 48 passes for 865 yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman.
Alabama (0-1) will look to rebound at home against ULM in its first meeting with the Warhawks since 2022.
