Reports: Angels DFA OF/DH Jorge Soler

After not being able to find a trade partner for him ahead of Monday's deadline, the Los Angeles Angels designated outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler for assignment, according to reports by BeisbolFR.com and Mike Rodriguez.

Soler, 34, has played 76 games as DH compared to just nine in right field this season, his second with the Angels. He's hitting .203 -- his worst batting average since 2017 -- with 12 homers and 49 RBIs in 86 games this season.

The two-time All-Star and 2021 World Series MVP with the Atlanta Braves has a career .238 batting average with 215 homers and 599 RBIs in 1,180 games with the Chicago Cubs (2014-16), Kansas City Royals (2017-2021), Braves (2021; 2024), Miami Marlins (2022-23), San Francisco Giants (2024) and Angels.

The Angels, with the worst record in the majors at 43-69, were among the biggest sellers at the trade deadline, shipping off right-handed starter Jose Soriano to Toronto, slugging outfielder Jo Adell to Cleveland, right-hander reliever Ryan Zeferjahn to the Chicago Cubs and right-handed reliever Kirby Yates to Pittsburgh on Monday.

Soler's DFA and the corresponding roster move have not yet been announced by the Angels.
