Reports: Clippers' Willie Reed Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge
Photo: Mike Erhmann/ [object Object] Willie Reed, newly of the Los Angeles Clippers, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery Sunday morning after a domestic violence incident, according to this .
Reed was reportedly arrested in downtown Miami early Sunday morning. Reed played the 2016-2017 NBA season with the Miami Heat before signing a one-year contract with the Clippers in unrestricted free agency. This says Reed has been working out in Miami recently in preparation for the upcoming season.
The NBA built a new policy on domestic violence into the most recent collective bargaining agreement, the “Joint NBA/NBPA Policy on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse,” and Reed’s case appears to be the first domestic violence-related arrest of an NBA player since the new CBA’s implementation. Jeff Withey of the Utah Jazz was accused of domestic violence back in April, but Manhattan Beach officials ultimately declined to pursue charges. Reed is reportedly expected to make his first court appearance later Sunday.
