Mandatory Credit: Jonathan Hui-Imagn Images The Miami Marlins are acquiring outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the Los Angeles Dodgers, multiple reports said Monday night.
The Dodgers will acquire 18-year-old pitching prospect Adriano Marrero from Miami in the deal, beisbolfr.com reported.
Ruiz, 26, led the American League in steals (67) when playing for the Oakland Athletics in 2023, his only full season in the big leagues.
Since then, Ruiz has spent most of his time in the minors, playing 29 games for the A's in 2024 and 19 for the Dodgers following a trade in April 2025.
In 197 career games for San Diego (2022), Milwaukee (2022), the A's and the Dodgers, Ruiz has batted .241 with eight home runs, 27 doubles, 59 RBIs and 77 steals.
Marrero, a right-hander, threw 33 innings across 10 starts for the Marlins' Dominican Summer League team in 2025. He posted 35 strikeouts, 12 walks and a 3.82 ERA.
