Reports: Jaguars could deal WR Brian Thomas Jr.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on Dec. 29, 2024 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. [Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union] Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. could be traded this offseason if general manager James Gladstone hears an offer to his liking, according to reports.
Jacksonville selected Thomas No. 23 overall out of LSU before Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen were hired and was coming off of a historically potent rookie season with 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024.
But last season was a different story.
Thomas tied for second in the NFL with 10 drops and his route-running and separation prowess touted by the previous regime wasn't as evident. While Thomas encountered injuries, quarterback Trevor Lawrence established a better rapport with Parker Washington and the Jaguars traded for Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in November.
Thomas missed three games and caught 48 passes for 707 yards and two touchdowns.
Since Gladwell was hired, he has made 10 trades. Five of them involved a wide receiver or a draft pick used to select a wide receiver.
Teams reported to have interest in Thomas include the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
Gladwell executed two trades with the Browns last season, including the draft day bonanza to acquire Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. The franchises swapped cornerbacks Tyson Campbell and Greg Newsome II in October.
