Reports: Toronto acquiring Real Salt Lake M Nelson Palacio

Mandatory Credit: Rob Gray-Imagn Images Toronto FC are finalizing a deal to acquire Colombian midfielder Nelson Palacio from Real Salt Lake, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.
Palacio, 25, will join the Reds in exchange for $1.2 million in cash and will occupy a U22 initiative slot on the roster, per The Athletic.
Palacio has been on loan this season with Zurich in the Swiss Super League, recording one assist in 32 matches. He had one goal and one assist in 44 MLS matches with Real Salt Lake from 2023-25.
Toronto FC entered the FIFA World Cup break in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, four points below the playoff line. The Reds return to action on July 16 with a match at CF Montreal.
