The Kansas City Royals placed rookie right-hander Beck Way on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday because of back spasms and tightness.

In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled right-hander Easton McGee from Triple-A Omaha.

Way, 26, last pitched on Friday when he started and took the loss in a 2-1 setback against the host Detroit Tigers. He allowed three hits and two runs in one inning.

He is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA, 10 walks and 21 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings over 19 games (one start).

Kansas City purchased McGee, 28, from the Milwaukee Brewers on July 14.

McGee appeared in two games this season for the Brewers, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout and no runs in two innings. He is a combined 5-3 with one save, a 6.04 ERA, 19 walks and 50 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings for Triple-A Nashville (Brewers affiliate) and Omaha (Royals).

For his career, McGee is 0-0 with a 3.08 ERA, seven walks and 17 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings over 13 games in parts of four seasons for the Tampa Bay Rays (2022), Seattle Mariners (2023) and Brewers (2025-26).
