Royals reinstate SS Bobby Witt Jr. from injured list

Witt, 26, has been sidelined since experiencing back spasms during a July 20 win against the San Francisco Giants.
Named to his third straight American League All-Star team this year, Witt is batting .279 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs. He has 103 hits and 51 runs and leads the American League with 30 stolen bases in 94 games.
The Royals also recalled right-hander Jose Cuas from Triple-A Omaha and designated former All-Star left-hander Matt Strahm and shortstop Andrew Velazquez for assignment.
Cuas, 32, has no decisions and a 2.84 ERA in five relief appearances this season with Kansas City.
Strahm, 34, is 3-4 with a 7.32 ERA in 41 relief appearances for the Royals this season. He made the National League All-Star team with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2024 and is 37-42 with 15 saves and a 3.61 ERA in 436 games (35 starts) with four teams since 2016.
Velazquez, 32, signed with Kansas City on June 24 and batted .067 (1-for-15) with one stolen base in six games.
