Mandatory Credit: Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu will miss the second season of Unrivaled this winter due to an undisclosed injury.
Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 women's basketball league founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, began its new season on Monday.
Ionescu, the former No. 1 WNBA draft pick and four-time All-Star, plays for Phantom BC in the league.
"While I'm disappointed I couldn't play this season, I'll be rooting for the Phantom," Ionescu said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to working with Unrivaled through content and broadcast opportunities and continuing to support the league's success."
Collier is also sitting out this season due to surgery needed on both her ankles.
Ionescu, 28, has averaged 16.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game for the Liberty in 181 games (177 starts) over six WNBA seasons. She won the 2024 WNBA Championship with the Liberty.
