Said Nurmagomedov's fight dropped from UFC 308
Jan 22, 2022; Anaheim, California, USA; Said Nurmagomedov (blue gloves) celebrates his win by submission against Cody Stamann (red gloves) during UFC 270 at Honda Center. Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Saturday's scheduled bantamweight bout between Said Nurmagomedov and Daniel Santos was officially dropped from the UFC 308 card on Wednesday.
The promotion did not cite a specific reason why Santos (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was "removed" from the schedule at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. It is the Brazilian fighter's second straight withdrawal.
It would have been the first fight for Nurmagomedov (18-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) since UFC 294 in October 2023, when the Russian defeated Muin Gafurov by submission in the first round.
News of Santos' withdrawal broke earlier this week but there apparently wasn't enough time to find a replacement to fight Nurmagomedov.
UFC 308 will continue with 13 bouts, headlined by the featherweight title clash between Max Holloway and champ Ilia Topuria.
