Seahawks edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu to miss time; Seattle acquires DE Trevis Gipson

The Seattle Seahawks acquired pass rusher Trevis Gipson from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday in exchange for a late-round pick, and he's likely to get a chance to play an impact role with Uchenna Nwosu expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury.
The pick back to Jacksonville is likely conditional, predicated on Gipson's playing time, per multiple reports.
ESPN reported Monday that edge rusher Nwosu would "miss anywhere between 2-6 weeks" with a sprained MCL sustained in Saturday's preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns.
The Seahawks are also unsure if Dre'Mont Jones will be ready for Week 1.
The Jags signed Gipson to a one-year deal worth $1.13 million in March. He appeared in eight games (zero starts) for the Tennessee Titans in 2023.
Selected by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round of the 2020 draft, Gipson has 11 sacks, 21 quarterback hits, six forced fumbles and 81 tackles in 48 career games (19 starts) for the Bears and Titans.
It's the third trade for the Seahawks in recent days. They dealt cornerback Michael Jackson to the Carolina Panthers and edge rusher Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears.
