Shaking Up the Eastern Conference
Last night the Magic bounced back from a loss to the Wizards to best the 76ers in a game that featured 22 different scorers. Although nobody on either team notched more than 18 points each team received scoring contributions from 11players with eight of Orlando's 11 scoring in double figures. Rashard Lewis led the way with 18 to go along with his eight rebounds while Dwight Howard put up 13 and 12 in just 23 minutes. The arena was filled with a large Turkish contingent and their guy Hedo Turkoglu responded with 16 points and 9 assists. The loss was just the second in Philly's past 10 games and it keeps them a game behind Toronto for the sixth spot in the East.
• LeBron doesn't suck. LeBron James scored 29 points on the aforementioned Raptors to make him the leading scorer in franchise history. The 22 year-old added 12 rebounds and five assists as his Cavs rolled past their slumping foes. The loss, the seventh in their past ten, drops Toronto to sixth in the east.
• Wizards keep winning. Caron Butler had his best game since returning from injury and Washington is reaping the benefits. The All-Star scored 22 points along with six assists while fellow All-Star Antawn Jamison contributed with yet another 22 and 10 performance. The Wizards are still without Gilbert Arenas, but they're now two games over .500 and sitting fifth the Eastern Conference playoff standings. an online sportsbook's going to owe this blogger some money pretty soon.
