Mandatory Credit: Daniel Kucin Jr.-Imagn Images After ending a five-game road swing with a big win over league-leading Minnesota, the Seattle Storm aim to keep rolling when they host the Chicago Sky on Saturday night.
The Storm (21-19) rallied from a 21-point deficit to claim a 93-79 win Thursday night behind 23 points from Skylar Diggins.
Diggins said it's a confidence-building win for the Storm as they continue their playoff push. They are seventh in the standings with four games to play and have a half-game lead over Golden State.
"I think we match up well with everybody," Diggins told reporters. "I think we are equipped versus any team. I think we are as talented as any team."
Chicago (9-29) lost 83-79 to the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night despite another double-double from Angel Reese, who scored 15 points and grabbed 20 rebounds and is averaging 14.4 points and 12.6 boards on the year.
Reese said she's learned a lot in her second year as a pro and does her best to deal with the tough moments. And there has been no shortage of those as the Sky have dropped three in a row and are 2-16 in their last 18 games.
"I get so frustrated with myself because I know how hard I work, and it's just frustrating. I try to make up for it on other ends," Reese said postgame. "I give myself grace. I know I am here for a reason and I have to be where my feet are."
Seattle has won four of its last five and is led by Nneka Ogwumike, who paces the team in scoring (18.2) and rebounding (7.1).
The Storm have won the previous two meetings against Chicago this year, scoring in the 90s both times, including in a 94-88 win on Aug. 19. As a team, Seattle is averaging 82.5 points per contest; Chicago is putting up a league-low 76.0.
