Some Ugliness In Iraq

At the risk of adding some gloom to an otherwise fun day, and also of inciting some of that nasty political talk, I should mention that a couple of Iraqi tennis players and a coach were killed recently for the crime of wearing shorts.

Last week, some insane extremists who have lost a grip on anything that even relates to reality distributed leaflets throughout the neighborhood where the murders took place. The leaflets warned people about wearing shorts and other evil attire, and authorities do believe that the attacks and the previously-issued warnings are related.

Just disgusting and sad and depressing. These people make Richard Petty seem completely progressive and enlightened. I really hope that Iraq doesn't have a beach volleyball team.
