Spain International Nolito Has The Best Brexit Take
So yeah, Brexit! What a thing, right? So crazy, that Brexit. Can’t believe it, uh, went down. I definitely understood before last night the stakes and nuances of the Brexit—of course I did, I am after all a learned individual and a conscientious member of the global community, duh—but if you need a primer, let Spanish national team player and, if the rumors are to be believed, future Manchester City winger Nolito pass onto you his understanding:
Nolito, linked with the Premier League club in media reports, was caught by surprise when asked at Euro 2016 if he knew what Brexit was.
“I think it’s a dance or maybe I’m wrong,” he told Spanish radio. “A dance that they do in the NBA.”
(I think Nolito was joking to some degree. You can hear the series of rapid-fire questions of which the Brexit one was a part of at the 10:45 minute mark here; the accompanying laughter makes it seem like his statements were at least in part in jest. In a separate interview, Nolito was again asked about Brexit and his response there—basically: “I don’t know much about it and it doesn’t affect me”—implies that, while he is aware that Brexit not a dance, he still isn’t all that boned up on the particulars.)
For the record, I definitely knew it wasn’t a dance.
