Steinbrenner Has Officially Lost It

At first we thought it was a joke, but no, they're serious — batting practice is now being televised. On April 3, the YES Network trots out Batting Practice Today, a show that features, well, New York Yankees batting practice. To begin one half hour before the start of their regular pre-game show (how long before the whole thing just runs on a 24-hour loop?), the broadcast will also feature interviews, analysis and news.

Highlights will also include:

• Rolling up the tarp; • Hanging out with vendors as they wait for the truck with the frozen malts; • Interview with the guy who wears 400 baseball pins and never bathes; • Groundskeeper Jack chasing sea gulls with a broom.

We may have made up some of that.
