Mandatory Credit: David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports The Connecticut Sun will be without Moriah Jefferson for at least three more weeks after she underwent arthroscopic surgery on her right ankle, the team said Tuesday.
Jefferson had the procedure done Monday, and the team will evaluate her timetable to return after three weeks.
The Sun are off between July 16 and Aug. 16 for the Olympic break, meaning Jefferson might not return to game action till the WNBA season resumes.
Jefferson, 30, has played in just nine games this season and none since June 12 as she has dealt with her ankle injury. She has averaged just 2.1 points and 6.8 minutes off the bench per game.
It's the veteran's first season with the Sun. After entering the league as the second overall draft pick by the San Antonio Stars in 2016, Jefferson has averaged 9.1 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game in 188 games (143 starts) for San Antonio/Las Vegas, Dallas, Minnesota, Phoenix and Connecticut.
