The Memphis Grizzlies Are Circling The Drain
Throughout the first half of the NBA season, the Western Conference standings were an intractable mess, with 14 teams all harboring legitimate hopes of nabbing a playoff spot. Young upstarts like the Mavericks and Kings threatened the balance of power, while established playoff mainstays like the Pe...
Marc Gasol Helped Rescue A Migrant From Drowning In The Mediterranean Sea
Marc Gasol has spent the last week volunteering aboard the Open Arms Proactiva, a ship operated by a Spanish NGO that works to rescue migrants from the Mediterranean Sea. According to the UN, 1,443 asylum seekers and refugees trying to make it to Europe have died on the journey so far this year, and...
The Memphis Grizzlies, Losers of 17 Straight, Are The True Tank Lords
The Grizzlies have had an absolute nightmare of a season. Because they came into the season with Marc Gasol and Mike Conley and Tyreke Evans and [gulp] Chandler Parsons on the team, they started with the goal of making the playoffs. But Conley played just 12 games this season; Gasol’s efficiency and...
Marc Gasol's Postgame Interview: "We Won, So Fuck It"
The Grizzlies snapped their 11-game losing streak tonight with a 95-92 win over the Timberwolves, and Marc Gasol was pretty pumped about it. Enough to clearly drop a “fuck it” in his televised postgame comments....
David Fizdale Probably Shouldn't Have Benched Marc Gasol
The Memphis Grizzlies made the genuinely surprising decision to fire head coach David Fizdale on Monday, just a day after Fizdale sat star center Marc Gasol for the entire fourth quarter against the Nets. Given that Fizdale led the team to 43 wins last season, and given that this year’s team, while ...
Marc Gasol Gave The Business To The Warriors Last Night
Overshadowed, somewhat, by the ejections of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, and the general improbability of the Warriors ever losing—let alone losing to a team starting both Andrew Harrison and Jarell Martin—was another instant classic performance by Marc Gasol, who is wonderful....
Marc Gasol's Slick Passing Is A Delight In Any Competition
Spain’s wonderful Gasol-led national team today took on a Czech Republic squad that was distressingly overpowered given the presence of Wizards’ backup and future All-NBA guard Tomas Satoransky. This was a Eurobasket group stage match, played in Romania....
Marc Gasol Doesn't Need His Eyes
Marc Gasol, one of the few Grizzlies still standing, was still staring at the opposite basket when he flung this slick assist in their win over the Magic last night. He stole the ball, spotted a streaking Troy Williams out of the corner of his left eye, and didn’t bother to turn around, instead hur...
Marc Gasol Unveils The "Spanish McGregor Walk"
The Memphis Grizzlies got themselves an impressive win on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers last night. The Grizz were down 107-106 with 23 seconds to play when Marc Gasol stepped up to hit a game-winning three from the corner. ...
Hey, Guy, Just Shake Marc Gasol's Hand
After Tuesday night's game against the Hawks, Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was giving daps to fans as he headed into the locker room. One fan did not want any of Gasol's daps, though, and pulled the ol' pull-the-hand-back-and-rub-your-hair handshake prank....
There Were A Lot Of Buzzer Beaters In the NBA Tonight
Look, the NBA season is too damn long. Even I, an NBA junkie that watches at least 200 games a year, can see that. Too many teams are tanking, too many teams are on energy crippling back-to-backs, and too many teams have injuries to fully showcase 82 games of high-quality basketball. Among the numer...
Kevin Love Wins White Guy Award From NBA Executives
The NBA season is right around the corner, and you know what that means: Time for another preseason survey in which the league's 30 general managers answer various questions of varying degrees of inanity. You'll note that, way down at the bottom, the NBA asks an especially weird one:...
Marc Gasol Makes Wonderful Pulp Fiction Reference In Postgame Interview
Here's Marc Gasol answering questions from the media after helping his team to a Game 5, series-clinching victory over the Thunder. At about the 25-second mark, a reporter asks him how meaningful a trip to the Western Conference finals is to the franchise. His response is priceless....
The Grizzlies Are About To Grizz Past The OKC Kevin Durants
Oklahoma City is looking suspiciously like a team that is going to lose a second-round series. Kevin Durant posted 25 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, while Serge Ibaka chipped in 13 points, 10 boards and 4 blocks. And still Memphis ground out an 87-81 win for a 2-1 series lead on an aft...
A Grizzlies Fan Put His Fingers Where They Don't Belong On Marc Gasol
This... this is not appropriate....
