Nationals Are Gifted Rainout, Will Still Start Tanner Roark Over Stephen Strasburg, Have Mold Problem
It can be very, very easy to see the decisions surrounding a rainout as far simpler than they are. If it looks like it’s going to rain all evening, but a team refuses to either move up first pitch or call the game—you fucking morons. If it is maybe going to rain later but definitely is not raining n...
The Nats Wasted A Brilliant Night From Stephen Strasburg, Because Of Course They Did
There is nothing more frustrating on earth than watching a lineup featuring Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon, Daniel Murphy, and Ryan Zimmerman get completely blanked by a guy who throws an 87 mph fastball. Unless you are a Cubs fan, in which case, screw you right in the ear....
Lawsuit Says Nationals Hitting Coach Shared Revenge Porn; Suspended By Team
The Washington Nationals announced Friday night that they had suspended assistant hitting coach Jacque Jones with pay, pending an investigation into a “legal matter.” The announcement came a little more than a week after a lawsuit was filed in San Diego by a woman, under the name Jane Doe, who said ...
Here Are The Most Interesting Guys Of The NL Playoffs

Max Scherzer Injured His Hamstring, Because D.C. Sports Fans Can't Have Happiness
Max Scherzer had to leave his final start of the regular season in the fourth inning last night when he pulled up lame after throwing a pitch. Nationals manager Dusty Baker tried to play it off like it was no big deal, but the Nationals are less than a week away from a playoff series. It’s kind of a...

Odubel Herrera Is One Man Who Is Ready For The Offseason
The big play from Friday night’s Nationals-Phillies game came when Washington’s Michael A. Taylor roped a liner to center with the bases loaded, and wound up with the rare inside-the-park grand slam. This was great fun to watch:...
Bryce Harper, What The Hell???
Bryce Harper’s hair has already generated much more discourse than any baseball player’s hair reasonably should. That is, in all likelihood, about to get much worse. He posted the following picture on his Instagram story this evening during the Nationals’ game against the Marlins: ...
What The Hell Are You Doing, Captain Obvious.
The Mets jumped out to a quick start today in the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning against Nats rookie pitcher Erick Fedde. With the score already 3-0, Travis d’Arnaud smoked a liner foul up the line in left field, where it bounced...
It's Incredible To Think There Were Once Nats Who Weren't Injured
Maybe it is time for the Nationals to consult a witch doctor. Their list of injuries this season is ridiculous, and now you can add to it Ryan Zimmerman, who reportedly screwed up his shoulder sliding home in the 11th inning of their Thursday night extra-innings win over the Houston Astros....
Good Lord, This Stephen Strasburg Curveball
It takes a lot to humble José Altuve. (Jokes about his height accomplish nothing here.) After a red-hot July that launched him into this year’s MVP conversation, he’s in the middle of his best season yet. But here is Altuve not only humbled, but humbled with buckled knees as a very scary Stephen Str...
How Grassroots Activists Opened Up Baseball To Its Queer Fans
Brent Minor, executive director of Team DC—an organization that promotes LGBT sports participation in the Washington area—remembers feeling pessimistic about the first-ever Washington Nationals Night Out. It was 2005, and his organization “totally emptied [its] treasury” to buy 200 tickets for LGBT...

Bryce Harper Leaves Rainy Nats Game With Apparent Knee Injury
First pitch in Washington was delayed three hours Saturday night and there was still a steady drizzle when the game got underway. While attempting to run out a ground ball in the first inning, Bryce Harper hit first base awkwardly and slipped on the slick surface. He immediately fell to the ground c...
The Marlins Lost Because They Pitched To Bryce Harper On Accident
The Marlins lost 3-2 to the Nationals last night after surrendering a 2-1 lead in the sixth when Bryce Harper banged an RBI double off the right-field wall. Getting beat by a player as good as Harper isn’t anything to be ashamed of, except when he was never supposed to be given the chance in the fir...
Max Scherzer Smacks First Career Dinger, Leaves Game With Injury
Nationals ace and perennial Cy Young contender Max Scherzer got a pretty huge career moment in the second inning of tonight’s game against the Marlins, smashing an 0-2 pitch into the left field stands for a three-run dinger....
Brandon Kintzler Was Feeding A Rhino When He Found Out He'd Been Traded To The Nationals
It shouldn’t have been a surprise that Brandon Kintzler was traded today, given that he’ll be a free agent after this season and that the Twins made it clear they were looking to sell. But rather than sitting by the phone all day, he decided to go out and enjoy himself on the team’s off-day in San D...
Dee Gordon Breaks Up No-Hitter In Ninth Inning On José Fernández's Birthday
Gio González took a no-hit bid into the ninth inning for the first time in his career, but a Dee Gordon single ensured that Miami would not go hitless on what would have been José Fernández’s 25th birthday....
Mets Trade Prospects For Bullpen Help, Because Now They're Buyers?
The NL East played a little role-player musical chairs Friday: the Phillies, owners of the worst record in all of baseball, sent outfielder Howie Kendrick to the Nationals for 21-year-old lefty pitching prospect McKenzie Mills; and the Mets, currently 13.5 games back of the Nationals in the division...
