Yuzuru Hanyu, the defending world and Olympic champion, took the ice first tonight in the final flight of the men’s short program to great anticipation. Hanyu, who is considered to be one of the greatest male skaters of all-time, hadn’t competed since injuring his ankle in November; though considere...
Lindsey Jacobellis Comes Up Agonizingly Short Yet Again
American Lindsey Jacobellis is perhaps the greatest boardercross racer of all-time. She’s won 10 X-Games golds and five world championships, though the Olympics have been anomalously cruel to her. You probably remember her fall at the 2006 Turin Olympics, when she showed off with an unnecessary gra...

Figure skaters are really taking full advantage of being allowed to perform to music with lyrics at the 2018 Olympic Games. Chafik Besseghier, the second guy up in the men’s short program tonight, was dressed like a taxi driver and performed to “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang....

The U.S. Women Were This Close To Taking Canada To Overtime
The U.S. women’s hockey team were so close to pulling off what would have been a very fun comeback. They controlled the majority of their final group-stage battle against Canada—which didn’t really matter but served as a preview of the expected gold-medal game—but the Americans still found themselve...

Swiss Olympic Skier Appears To Be An Escalator Wizard Or Some Shit
Swissman Fabian Bösch is a former world champion and X-Games gold medalist, but more importantly, he’s an escalator genius. If I did this, I would tear my rotator cuff, but I guess that’s why I’m not in the Olympics....
Nothing Happened To Shaun White
American snowboarder Shaun White won another Olympic gold medal in the halfpipe yesterday. The event was broadcast on NBC, and throughout the competition White was talked about as an American hero and champion. The Jamaican women’s bobsled team is set to make their Olympic debut next week, 30 years after the Jamaican men’s bobsled team made their historic debut at the Calgary Olympics. That’s the hope, anyway. Just a week before their first heats, the team has been engulfed by drama, and may not even have ...
Weird Statues Of The Olympics, Ranked
PYEONGCHANG, South Korea—I was supposed to cover Mikaela Shiffrin’s probably podium-worthy slalom run this morning. In the perpetual riddle of trying to predict where the bigger story will be on any given day at the Olympics, I went to the ski slopes to see Shiffrin instead of watching Shaun White’s...

Shaun White’s still got it. The 31-year-old, after posting an insane 98.50 score in qualifying, earned his third-career Olympic gold medal with his third run of 97.75 points in a halfpipe competition that became somewhat muted following a disastrous crash on the halfpipe by Yuto Totsuka.
