Team Liquid, Geekay Esports win as regional playoffs open in OWCS NA Stage 2
Overwatch Champions Series Geekay Esports and Team Liquid won matches in the upper bracket semifinals as regional playoffs opened Saturday in the Overwatch Champions Series 2025 -- North America Stage 2.
The regional playoffs are a double-elimination bracket from June 21-29 and feature the top six teams from the regular season, which ran from May 10 to June 15. The bottom two teams, seventh-place Supernova and eighth-place DhillDucks, went to promotion/relegation for Stage 3.
The top three teams will advance to the Midseason Championship and North America Stage 3. The prize money has yet to be determined.
Geekay Esports defeated Spacestation Gaming 3-1, taking Oasis Control 2-0 and Dorado Escort 2-1 before a 3-1 setback on New Junk City Flashpoint. Geekay won on Colosseo Push 66.43m to 64.85m. Geekay's Oliver "Admiral" Vahar of Estonia was selected most valuable player.
Team Liquid claimed a 3-1 victory over NTMR. Liquid won 2-0 on Oasis Control before NTMR recorded a 3-2 win on Circuit Royal Escort. Liquid closed out with a 3-1 win on Hollywood Hybrid and a 3-0 triumph on New Junk City Flashpoint. Team Liquid's Elliott "Tr33" Chu, an American/Korean player, was selected MVP.
Geekay Esports and Team Liquid advanced to the upper bracket final on June 28. Spacestation Gaming faces Sakura Esports on Sunday, and NTMR plays Extinction later Sunday in the lower bracket quarterfinals.
The grand final is June 29.
