The NFL Gets Its Way On Cameron Heyward's Cancer-Awareness Eye Black
Cameron Heyward and the NFL have reached an agreement on his customized eye black: the Steelers defensive end will stop wearing “IRON HEAD” under his cheeks, and the league will make his two weeks of fines “significantly less,” according to ESPN. In other words, the league won.
Heyward put out an update on Twitter. He’ll be selling the personalized eye black online, with a portion of the proceeds going to cancer research:
The NFL or Steelers—or both—also seem to have suggested to Heyward that he remember his father in other ways, “on and off the field.” What are these ways, exactly? That’s yet to be determined. Brain Cancer Awareness Month is in May, so the NFL has no reason to film a commercial for it or sell branded merchandise out of season.
