The Road To The Real Bowl Games: Your New Year's Eve Bowl Games Open Thread
Ah yes, the other Bowl games. Everyone likes to complain about things like .500 teams playing in bowl games and whatnot, but wouldn't you rather be watching football than, you know, not watching football? New Year's resolution: be more grateful for the things you have, people—and chat about the games below.
12:00 p.m. Texas A&M vs. Northwestern in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas starts things off for us over on ESPN. I think an agricultural school has a decided disadvantage in a bowl game about automobile repairs. Good luck, Aggies!
2:00 p.m. Georgia Tech vs. Utah in the Hyundai Sun Bowl can be seen on CBS. Cars and the sun? I've never been, but I'm pretty sure neither of those things exist in Utah. Georgia Tech wins big.
3:30 p.m. We've got a double-dip here. The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (ESPN) features Illinois and UCLA. Los Angeles residents are world renowned for their ability to fend off such things as eating and being hungry so expect a good showing from the Bruins. Meanwhile, over on ABC you can watch Cincinnati and Vanderbilt duke it out in the Autozone Liberty Bowl. What's with all the cars? Anyway, Cincinnati practically invented Liberty so, go Big East.
7:00 p.m. The Chik-fil-A Bowl brings you the classic Virginia-Auburn match up, also on ESPN. Organizers took a pretty big gamble scheduling this game as late as they did. Here's to hoping this thing doesn't go too late and they have to close up shop.
