The Spurs Were The Most Dominant NBA Finals Team Ever
With a 104-87 blowout in Game 5 last night, the Spurs became the most dominant NBA finals winners ever.
Littlewhitestatistics.com ranked net margin of victory for winning teams in NBA finals history.
The chart shows the Spurs scored 70 points more than the Heat this series besting the previous victory margin leaders, the 1965 Celtics, who outscored the Lakers by 63.
In recent history, the only other team to outscore their opponent by even 50 points was the 2008 Celtics against Lakers. Since 1958 the team without home-court advantage has won the finals only 17 times. As the bottom of the chart shows, eleven times in finals history, the losing team actually outscored the winning team, including the Spurs over the Heat last year, which did not work out quite as well for them.
