The Terrible History Of Undersized Linens
Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury celebrates as the first star of his team's shutout of New York today. Foreshadowing? Or pride before the fall?
It's probably worth nothing that the " Terrible Towel" is actually a trademark, originally coined by long-time "voice of the Steelers" Myron Cope, who sold the rights to a Pennsylvania school for disabled people. So they are the ones getting rich off the annoyance of others—including the NFL, which is annoyed that are not making money off it themselves. Rumor has it—which I can't link to because it's stupidly behind a paywall—that the NFL wants to market the towel idea to every NFL city, even though several have already tried it in the past and failed miserably. (The Titans fans' blue hankies did not help them so much this year.)
Again, the moral of this story is that Pittsburgh is a team of destiny. Or today's game will be rigged in Baltimore's favor in order to keep the Steelers in their place. Either outcome seems highly probable.
