The USGA Won't Tell Anyone If Dustin Johnson Will Be Penalized [UPDATES]
Dustin Johnson is trying to win his first major, and he’s currently in the U.S. Open lead... maybe.
That’s because the USGA is considering penalizing Johnson a stroke for the above video, in which the USGA—again, maybe—thinks the golfer caused his ball to move before attempting to putt way back on the fifth green. Fox has done its usual piss-poor job of explaining what’s going on; they don’t appear to have anyone doing any reporting on the scandal, and Joe Buck has thrown up his hands amidst the confusion.
Great show, USGA. Golfers mad!
Update (7:50 p.m.): This is so fucking stupid.
Update (8:25 p.m.): He won anyway, and made the USGA look stupid in the process. (They penalized him a meaningless stroke.)
