Three American Olympians Worth Tuning In For
It’s Day 6 at the Olympics, and while athletes like Katie Ledecky, Adrian Carambula, and Mara Abbott have already seized their time on the world stage, more are surely to come. Here are a few American Olympians to watch for:
Simone Biles
She’s already led the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to an easy victory in the team all-around competition, but that’s just the beginning. Biles is competing today in the individual all-around—it’ll be shown tape-delayed on NBC starting at 8 p.m. ET—and could walk away with four more gold medals.
Mallory Pugh
The USWNT has already advanced to the quarterfinals in the soccer competition, where they’ll take on Sweden on Friday. If they’re to win their fourth straight Olympic gold medal, they might have to rely on 18-year-old Mallory Pugh, the youngest member of the team.
Matthew Emmons
Sport shooter Matthew Emmons has medaled at each of the last three Olympics, where he has also been involved in some of the flukiest matches you can possibly imagine. His quest for gold in the 50-meter rifle three positions competition begins on Sunday.
