Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images The Oklahoma City Thunder ruled out forward Jalen Williams for their road game Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a right hamstring strain.
Williams exited Oklahoma City's 122-120 loss at the Miami Heat on Saturday night midway through the second quarter, with what the Thunder at the time called thigh soreness.
It's not clear how long the defending NBA champions will be without their do-everything forward. Williams ranks third on the team with 16.8 points per game and also averages 5.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
However, injuries have caused Williams to play in just 24 of Oklahoma City's 43 games this season.
The fourth-year pro, an All-Star last season, has career averages of 18.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game in 239 appearances (226 starts) since the Thunder picked him 12th overall in the 2022 draft.
The Thunder also ruled out big man Isaiah Hartenstein (calf) for the 12th game in a row.
