Mandatory Credit: Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without All-Star guard Anthony Edwards for at least one week because of right knee inflammation, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Timberwolves said an MRI revealed the injury and that he will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks.
Edwards, third in the league in scoring at a career-high 29.5 points per game, already was designated as out due to knee soreness for Tuesday's home game against the Phoenix Suns.
Edwards, 24, last played on Sunday, recording 19 points, six rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes in a 116-103 loss at Oklahoma City.
He is averaging 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 35.5 minutes in 58 games (all starts).
Minnesota is in sixth place in the Western Conference, two games ahead of Tuesday's opponent, Phoenix.
The Timberwolves next will have home games against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday and Portland Trail Blazers on Friday before visiting the Boston Celtics on Sunday. Home games follow against the Houston Rockets on March 25 and Detroit Pistons on March 28.
The first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, Edwards played at least 72 games each season before the current campaign.
Edwards has been selected to the last four All-Star Games.
