Today in MLB Blogs
This image was lost some time after publication. It's official: America is suffering from creative block. Over at MLB Blogs.com, the latest feature entry concerns a dad and son who are visiting five major league ballparks in five days. They've entitled it 5 for 5. Get it? (Alternate title: Something Juan Gonzalez Will Never Again Do). Exciting? The letters Zzzzzzz come to mind. Note to bloggers: This idea is not fresh. At this point is there anyone in the U.S. who has not visited several different MLB parks on the same road trip? Very old — very unoriginal. We believe the first person to think of it was Homer in The Iliad and The Odyssey. And even he lost interest around Thebes. Now, this could have been interesting if the Blogging Dad approached it in a John Hughes, voyage-of-discovery, father-and-son-bonding type way. But what we actually get is far more pedestrian: Wrigley Field is old, apparently. And the inevitable hot dog rankings. Come on, MLB Blogs.com. Give us something we can use! Something that advances the human story ... some compelling reason to read your site. Well, we have to go now — we're going to take a week off and visit every Fed Ex-Kinko's in the contiguous 48 states.—RC
