Tristan Muyumba scored the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute and Lucas Hoyos made three saves to lead Atlanta United to a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United on Wednesday night in Saint Paul, Minn.

Defender Tomas Jacob also scored for Atlanta United (5-12-3, 18 points), which has won back-to-back matches for the first time this season. It was just the second road win in 11 tries for (2-7-2) for Atlanta.

Anthony Markanich scored for Minnesota United (6-7-7, 25 points), which saw its winless streak extended to nine matches (0-4-5). Drake Callender finished with one save for the Loons, whose last win came on May 2 over the Columbus Crew, 3-2.

Minnesota, which held a special ceremony honoring its all-decade team before the match, had the game's first good scoring chance in the 16th minute when Markanich attempted a header near the right post that Hoyos knocked away with his outstretched arms.

Atlanta, coming in off a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, then took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. Muyumba passed the ball to a wide-open Jacob on the right side of the box and Jacob ripped a right-footed shot past a diving Callender into the far left netting for his second goal.

The visitors had a chance to double the lead in the 50th minute when Miguel Almiron went in on a breakaway after taking an Aleksey Miranchuk through pass but Callender kicked away Almiron's left-footed shot with his left foot.

Minnesota then tied it eight minutes later when Markanich headed in a close-in rebound by the right post for his fifth goal.

Muyumba then put Atlanta back in front when he roofed a left-footed shot from just outside the six-yard box, extending his goal streak to three consecutive games.

Minnesota nearly tied it three minutes later but Hoyos turned away a pair of close-in shots by Kelvin Yeboah and Markanich.
