Martin, 27, sustained the injury while tracking a fly ball in the eighth inning of Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Martin is batting .241 with three homers, 23 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 110 games this season with the Twins.
Minnesota called up catcher Alex Jackson from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding transaction.
Jackson, 30, is batting .303 with one home run and five RBIs in 29 games this season with the Twins.
