Wazzu QB Connor Halliday Breaks NCAA Passing Record, Still Loses
Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday threw for 734 yards and six touchdowns last night against Cal. That broke not only David Klingler's 24-year-old FBS record, but the overall NCAA record of 730 for a game that was set by Old Dominion's Taylor Heinicke two years ago. The Cougars still lost, 60-59.
That's because Wazzu kicker Quentin Breshears couldn't make a 19-yard field goal at the end of the game, following a pretty heroic attempt by Halliday to not only get the team into field goal position but nearly into the end zone itself. But let's not focus on the negative, shall we? Your highlight reel is above, and let's not forget that Halliday did all this without throwing a single interception.
Oh, and the last time a quarterback threw for this kind of yardage in a loss? Seven years ago.
