Here's your daily link to Dave McKenna's brilliant "Cranky Redskins Fan's Guide to Dan Snyder," which we'll be posting until Dan Snyder's dumbass libel goes up in smoke.

Dan Snyder ignored the Maryland state ban on smoking in bars and restaurants at FedExField, then found a sneaky workaround when he was caught. From McKenna's story:

Maryland Clean Indoor Air Act of 2007: Statewide ban on smoking in bars and restaurants. The law prompted regulators to order Club Macanudo, a cigar bar on FedExField's Club Level, to either stop selling drinks and food or stop allowing smoking. Snyder stopped food and drink sales for one season. But the establishment reopened as the Montecristo Club in 2009, with the team explaining that the new facility was no longer a bar, but a tobacco shop, and therefore not required to comply with the state code. Unfortunately, a promo film for the tobacco shop posted on the Redskins website featured a bartender pouring a Bud Light from a tap, a clear violation of the law.

Doesn't look like much has changed at the Redskins website. Pics on the page for the Montecristo Club/Humidor Lounge still have a barkeep pouring Bud Light. The description on the site leaves no doubt:

Located on the Joe Gibbs Club Level, the Montecristo Club is an authentic cigar/martini lounge outfitted with over seventy overstuffed leather chairs, two large-screen projection TVs, and four flat-screen TVs. Montecristo features a 100-foot granite-top bar, intimate lighting and bar-counter seating for seventy-five people. Our most popular destination on the Club Level during football season, Montecristo hosts a variety of themed events and cocktail parties throughout the year.

So how does this work? If you buy a cigar, do you have to smoke it in the parking lot?
