We Are All Dave McKenna LXX
Here's your daily link to Dave McKenna's brilliant "Cranky Redskins Fan's Guide to Dan Snyder," which we'll be posting until Daniel Snyder's dumbass libel suit is reduced to powder and not the fun kind (for Daniel Snyder).
Remember Adam Archuleta? Poor, rich Adam Archuleta. On March 14, 2006, Daniel Snyder made Archuleta the highest-paid safety in the history of the NFL by signing him to a six-year, $30 million contract. This was stupid. Archuleta was rubbish. He later told ESPN that his time with the Redskins was "a perfect storm of ... an utter disaster ... for all parties involved."
Of course it was. That's the Daniel Snyder way. Archuleta wanted to go to Chicago instead of DC but "the money wasn't even close" once Daniel Snyder started making it rain. All the spending only resulted in bad press for Daniel Snyder. Daniel Snyder would be better served by finding more smoldering Little League equipment sheds and Porta Pottys. Per dollar, this is a much smarter spend for Daniel Snyder, at least if it's good publicity he's craving:
Redskins' Dan[iel] Snyder comes to rescue of local Little Leaguers By Nate Davis, USA TODAY
Redskins owner Dan[iel] Snyder has often been pilloried for his offseason spending. But there's no questioning the money he shelled out for some local Little Leaguers this week.
Baseball equipment and tools for a league near Frederick, Md., was lost in an apparent arson case Sunday. [Daniel] Snyder reached out to Four County Little League president Jim Gill to offer $10,000 from the Redskins' charity fund to help cover the costs of new equipment and a shed to house it.
Douse the flames of First Amendment arson and donate to the City Paper's legal defense fund.
