We're Not Here to Violate Probation; We're Just Here to Do the Super Bowl Shuffle
#27, second from the left, is Michael Richardson. Richardson played a key role in the 1985-86 Chicago Bears' domination of the league. Now he's going back to jail for violating probation on his 21st drug conviction, bringing a new tint to the term "shutdown corner". How on Earth did L.A. Mike's probation officer find out about the violation? Why, when his known drug-using girlfriend picked him up at the probation office. He was arrested shortly thereafter. Mike Ditka and Richard Dent, among others, have gone to bat for Richardson over the years in court, saving him from long jail times before. Now he's eligible for up to 13 years in prison. We just wish there was still a champion in the NFLPA to reach out to former players who struggle with the transition to civilian life...
