White Sox 3B Yoan Moncada (adductor) departs vs. Guardians
Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada left Tuesday's road game against the Cleveland Guardians in the second inning with a left adductor strain.
Moncada sent a ground ball to third base and was running to the down the first-base line when the injury occurred. He left the game immediately and was replaced in the lineup by Nicky Lopez, who took over second base, with Lenyn Sosa moving over from second to third.
The White Sox have struggled this season, entering Tuesday's game with a 1-9 record, but had a five-run first inning when Moncada singled and scored on an Andrew Vaughn single.
Moncada, 28, entered Tuesday's game batting .270 with four extra-base hits. In nine seasons, including the past eight with the White Sox, Moncada is a career .254 hitter with 93 home runs and 339 RBIs.
It is yet another injury for the White Sox, whose struggling offense has been without outfielder Luis Robert Jr. (hip) and outfielder Eloy Jimenez (left adductor strain), who are both on the injured list.
