White Sox reinstate C Kyle Teel from injured list

The Chicago White Sox reinstated catcher Kyle Teel from the 10-day injured list on Friday ahead of their three-game home series against the Minnesota Twins.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox optioned catcher Drew Romo to Triple-A Charlotte but he will remain with the team on the taxi squad, per multiple reports.

Teel, 24, has not played since July 20, when he sustained a left high-ankle sprain on a play at the plate in a road win against the Texas Rangers.

After a promising rookie season in 2025, the White Sox were primed for a big year from Teel. Instead, his season has been marred by injuries, and he has played in just 19 games. He is batting .190 with two homers and 14 RBIs.

Teel began the season on the injured list with a right hamstring strain that he suffered during the World Baseball Classic, then sprained the LCL in his right knee during a May rehab session before making his season debut with the White Sox on June 22.

Romo, 25, is batting .141 with five doubles, seven home runs, 16 RBIs and 17 runs in 60 games this season, his first with Chicago.
