Whitecaps acquire 18-year-old M Emrick Fotsing

The Vancouver Whitecaps acquired midfielder Emrick Fotsing from Canadian Premier League side Vancouver FC on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old Canadian is under contract through the 2029-30 MLS season with an option for 2030-31. He will be on loan with Vancouver FC for the rest of the 2026 CPL season before joining the Whitecaps' roster in 2027.

"Emrick is a player we have been watching closely," Whitecaps sporting director Axel Schuster said. "He has continued his development, going from the CF Montreal Academy to Vancouver FC and impressing with Canada's youth national teams. He has shown the technical ability, intelligence and character to compete at a high level, while still having room to grow."

Fotsing has recorded four goals in 39 matches at Vancouver FC. Internationally, he co-captained Canada at the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship and helped the squad qualify for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
