Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. (9) is tended to after being injured during the second quarter of their game against Miami (Ohio) Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. Wisconsin starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr., making his debut Thursday night after transferring from Maryland, left midway through the second quarter of the nonconference opener against Miami (Ohio) with a lower-body injury and will not return.
Edwards, who passed for 2,881 yards and 15 touchdowns last season as the starter at Maryland, completed 6 of 13 passes for 68 yards before the injury.
Sophomore Danny O'Neil, a transfer from San Diego State, replaced Edwards.
Wisconsin led 3-0 at the half.
