Fifth-seeded Belinda Bencic of Switzerland secured her 10th career title with a 6-2, 6-3 win over sixth-seeded Linda Noskova on Sunday in the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open final in Tokyo.
Bencic recorded six aces and broke the serve of Noskova on three occasions to dispatch the native of the Czech Republic in 1 hour and 21 minutes. She previously reached the final of this tournament 10 years ago as an 18-year-old, losing to Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska.
Although Noskova was the fresher of the two given her previous two wins came via retirement and walkover, she was unable to sustain any momentum due in large part to the six double faults she committed.
Guangzhou Open
Second-seeded American Ann Li captured her second career WTA Tour title with a 7-6 (6), 6-2 victory over New Zealand's Lulu Sun in the final of the WTA 250 tournament in Guangzhou, China.
Li, who won the WTA 250 in Tenerife, Spain in 2021, recorded seven aces and benefited from four double faults to defeat Sun in 1 hour and 41 minutes.
Sun was looking for her maiden title, having lost her only previous final at the Monterrey Open in August 2024.
