WTA roundup: Czechs Marie Bouzkova, Linda Noskova claim titles

Fourth-seeded Czech Marie Bouzkova won her first career singles title on grass with a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-2 victory over third-seeded Emma Navarro on Sunday in the final of the Lexus Nottingham Open in the United Kingdom.

Bouzkova overcame an ankle injury and recorded four aces to win the match three minutes shy of three hours. The singles title was Bouzkova's fourth career and second of this season following her victory in April on the red clay in Bogota.

Navarro fired 10 aces and saved 10 of 14 break points in a losing effort.

Vanda Pharmaceuticals Berlin Tennis Open

Czech 21-year-old Linda Noskova earned the second title of her WTA career when she toppled third-seeded Jessica Pegula 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in Germany.

Noskova, the eighth seed, had 11 aces and saved 5 of 7 break points while overcoming eight double faults for the victory. Pegula fired 14 aces with just one double fault.

Noskova lost a 3-2 lead in the second set as Pegula forced a decisive third. But Noskova broke Pegula early en route to a 3-0 lead and was safe from then on.

Bad Homburg Open

Russia's Liudmila Samsonova and Canada's Leylah Fernandez won the only two main-draw matches of the day as the first round began in Bad Homburg, Germany.

Samsonova finished off Czech foe Katerina Siniakova 6-3, 7-5. Fernandez, meanwhile, rallied for a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3 win over Great Britain's Katie Boulter in a match that lasted three hours and 12 minutes. Fernandez committed 14 double faults but saved a whopping 19 of 24 break points she faced.
