Yue Yuan blanks Xiyu Wang at ATX Open for first career WTA title

No. 8 seed Yue Yuan of China upset sixth-seeded countrywoman Xiyu Wang on Sunday, recording a 6-4, 7-6 (4) sweep in the final of the ATX Open in Austin, Texas.
It took Yuan 2 hours, 13 minutes to capture her first WTA Tour title. Although she didn't record an ace, Yuan saved seven of 11 break points and finished with zero double faults.
Wang didn't go away quietly, even when faced with a 6-1 deficit in the second-set tiebreaker, where it took Yuan four match points to clinch the victory.
Sunday marked the first WTA final featuring two Chinese competitors since Wang Qiang took down Zheng Saisai at the Jiangxi Open in 2018.
