Guard-USA TODAY Sports Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid injured his left knee in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's 119-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.
Embiid went back to the locker room with 4:04 left in the game after Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga landed on his knee during a loose-ball scrum.
Following the contest, 76ers coach Nick Nurse told reporters that Tuesday's injury had nothing to do with the left knee soreness that prevented Embiid from suiting up for Philadelphia's two previous games.
Nurse added that Embiid was set to have an MRI done later Tuesday or Wednesday.
Prior to exiting, Embiid posted 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting to go along with seven rebounds against the Warriors.
Embiid, 29, has averaged 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.8 blocks in 34 games this season after being named MVP in 2022-23.
The Sixers are on a four-game losing streak and have Wednesday off before traveling to Salt Lake City for a meeting with the Utah Jazz on Thursday.
